Finley and Zach's Fanconi Fight
Donation protected
*** Our sons, Finley and Zach have no awareness of this, so please be mindful of this if talking to your children, or to our sons ***
In August 2018, our gorgeous youngest son, Zach (at the age of 4) was diagnosed with a rare and life-limiting blood disorder called Fanconi Anemia. Devastatingly in December 2018, our gorgeous Finley (then aged 8) was diagnosed with the same disorder.
Fanconi Anemia (FA) is a serious, genetic blood disorder affecting children, which causes bone marrow failure and means the boys will be extremely susceptible to tumours and cancers from a much earlier age. The best option for those affected by Faconi Anemia is a bone marrow transplant, a procedure that requires finding a matching donor as well as a round of intense chemotherapy to destroy the diseased marrow, temporarily eliminating the patient’s immune system in the process
As I'm sure you can imagine, this has been absolutely devastating to us and our family. We would like to raise awareness of Fanconi Anemia and ask for people to help us in a few ways:
1) Donate Blood for blood transfusions.
In Wales - Welsh Blood or in England https://www.blood.co.uk/ or in Scotland https://www.scotblood.co.uk/
*If you donate, please take a selfie and tag David and me on social media, alongside the hashtag #ForFinleyandZach
2) Register to be a Bone marrow / blood stem cell donor
Aged 16-30 - https://www.anthonynolan.org/
Aged 17-55 - https://www.dkms.org.uk/en/register-now
Over 55? or unable to donate? - Please help us to raise awareness :)
*If you register or if you share a post, please tag David and me on social media, alongside the hashtag #ForFinleyandZach
3) Help us spread the word if you're unable to (or just don't want to) donate blood, or register with DKMS/Anthony Nolan then we'd really love it if you can help by sharing any posts you see from us.
We really want to get as many people on-board as possible, to donate blood and to register with DKMS/Anthony Nolan. We also want to raise awareness of Fanconi Anemia - please help us to spread the word and also use the hashtag #ForFinleyandZach
Nearly £8000 has already been donated to Fanconi Hope via Virgin Money and we have taken the decision to continue the fundraising via this GoFundMe site following feedback from trusted friends and family.

Lots of love
