Hi Friends,
As many of you know Beverly is on track to finish her Doctoral Degree (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology with a focus on trauma assessment and people of color. She has been accepted to a program in California where she will be working with children and adolescents and families experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges, developmental delays, and providing assessment for autism diagnosis.
Beverly has always been independent and hardworking but with covid-19 it has been very difficult for her to generate income with her part time job as a waitress. For this reason, we are asking that you be a part of her journey and help her with moving costs from Boston to California. She currently is not working and needs to pay for moving costs including:
-shipping her car from MA to CA
-flight to CA
-shipping her belongings
-moving related bills i.e, rent, internet, utilities, car bills/tax
-furniture
-food
-settling in a new state across the country
Throughout her doctoral program she has relied on scholarships and worked 2-3 times jobs at a time in order to provide for herself. She is one week away from completing her dissertation and getting ready to move and begin her training in August.
In the 13 years that I have known Beverly, she has pridefully never been one to seek assistance but is always the first one to offer help when needed. I knew that it would be difficult for her to ask for this help and that is why I am asking on her behalf. She has invested so much time and money into her education and is so close to finishing and needs help with this final step.
We know that this may be a difficult time for a lot of us, but I know that this is truly an investment in Beverly's future and her commitment to working with historically undeserved communities and specifically communities of color.
People do not see the many hurdles that clinicians of color face due to institutional and generational hardships. This is an opportunity to help a clinician of color beat the odds and succeed.
Any amount is helpful, the money you would have spent on coffee or on lunch. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated, Thank you!!
