Finishing Funds for "An American Love Story"

Donation protected
With your support over the past few years, we've been documenting the storied relationship of Ron & Clé Thompson. For those of you who don't know: Ron and Clé Thompson were married in 1969, an interracial couple braving the social unrest of the United States just one year after DC's race riots. A few years ago, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a weekend of events and a theater production ("The Daze of Our Lives") telling their story. We documented the multi-day celebration to learn about their unique marriage and their professional and personal challenges in a complex national landscape.

We're happy to announce that the 62-minute film has been accepted into the 2023 River Run International Film Festival, set to screen in mid-April. This, of course, means... a jam-packed few weeks of post-production are ahead of us to get the in-progress film to a place for our audience.

Here's where you come in...

We're aiming to raise 8,000 dollars to:
  • Finalize the edit with Michael R. Miller, the editor known for "Raising Arizona," "Armageddon," and "Anaconda," among others.
  • Mix Sound, a necessary step to sound our best.
  • Color Correction, to visually bring it all together.
  • Create Original Score, adding an important emotive element.

Not only will we finish the film in time to screen our work-in-progress at River Run International Film Festival, but we'll also be tailoring it to move through the festival circuit, looking for distribution.
