Howdy, my name is Kathryn King and I'm making a film about my wonderful stepfather, NEA Jazz Master Bill Holman. He's one of the greatest composer/arrangers in jazz history, but he's not as well known as many others, so I'm trying to fix that! It was about 12 years ago that it dawned on me that I really needed to get going on a film to document his contributions to the music he dedicated his life to. So I spent all my $$ shooting most of the footage for Charting Jazz: The Mastery of Bill Holman. Not only did we interview BH himself, but, among others, Johnny Mandel, Gerald Wilson, Lalo Schifrin, John Clayton, Maria Schneider, Bones Howe, Marc Myers, Terry Gibbs, many members of the Bill Holman Band, and more. There's a ton of footage but post-production looms and there's still so much more to be done. He died last year at almost 97, and I'm determined to finish the tribute to this true jazz master. Can you help me?
