Hey Everyone!
Priscilla and her husband Bahe were living in a car on the Navajo Nation for over a year. When the weather changed they were desperate to get into their house. However, their home was uninhabitable. It lacked siding and flooring - one wall was covered by cardboard! See below:
I am partnered with a church on the Navajo Nation, Shield of Faith Ministries. They are based in Birdsprings, Arizona, approximately 1 hour East of Flagstaff, Arizona.
The initial round of fundraising brought in over $700 which allowed us to purchase over 25 pieces of 4x8 OSB plywood to replace the deteriorating walls. My neighbor donated house wrap and a roof membrane to help water proof the house. Another neighbor donated a wood stove. THANKS SO MUCH to the folks who donated already!!!
The first night Priscilla and Bahe stayed in the home they mentioned how warm they were! Please check out the pictures of the work we have gotten done so far!
Here is Priscilla checking out her newly walled in house! According to Irene, the leader of Shield of Faith Ministries, when Priscilla saw the house she, "[J]ust cried and cried. She said she could not believe how different her house looks now."
This fundraiser will be used to purchase wall and roof insulation to keep their house snug and warm. Any extra funds will be used to purchase roof shingles or other building materials.
Even a small donation will go a long way!
- R-15 insulation costs around $23/roll
- Roof insulation costs around $67/roll
- Roof shingles costs around $40/box
I would invite you to join us in this amazing journey to make a very REAL impact in the life of our neighbors on the Navajo Nation.
Welcome aboard!
