Finish College After Tragic Loss and Setbacks
Donation protected
My middle school teacher from 9 years ago contacted me to “check on me.” When I didn't respond to him, he insulted my father, who was killed due to gun violence in 2017. He also disrespected my mother and grandmother because I didn't text him back. He ended his harassment by calling me a “Short and Dark Skinned Napoleon.”
I am a Senior Mass Media Arts Major at Clark Atlanta University. I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money to finish college (on time) this spring. I have been through many hardships slowing me down and trying to block my light. Coming from Baltimore, MD, negativity is everywhere. It’s hard to beat the odds or to separate yourself from so much violence and aggression. I challenged myself to think outside the box and took the risk to further my education out of state.
To start this school year, Clark Atlanta University did not give me any housing for the first month and a half. I was forced to sleep in my car or couch hop. This really hindered my performance at the start of the fall semester, causing me to have to drop an important class. Now, I have to retake that class in order to graduate in May 2025, but I am taking a maximum of 7 courses at Clark Atlanta University in the spring. The only way for me to graduate on time is for me to take a separate course at a different university. The university I am planning to take this last course with is UMBC.
(Because my Bank Account was not being accepted, I was forced to add a close friend as a BENEFICIARY)
(Funds are still being delivered to me only.)
