Sadie's story:

We’ve been hearing this dog for months howling in the bamboo in the area behind our house. We call her “the mournful hound,” but now that we've been able to meet her we think she's a mix of Boston terrier and beagle and she's only about 25 lbs. After speaking with some neighbors, It turns out she belongs to someone who passed away in March. Since then she's been living at a house across the bamboo from us where no one else is currently living because the basement has been flooded and the house is unlivable. Someone has been coming to feed her, but overall conditions there were not good and Chris couldn't bare to leave her there. The woman who was feeding her agreed to let us try and find a new home for her.

All of the shelters in the area are currently full and do not have any extra funding to help us foster her (as has been the case with all of the strays we've fostered this year,) so we're hoping that we can help to raise some money for her, get her checked out at the vet and make sure she's vaccinated.

It does seem that while her owner was alive she was well cared for. She seems healthy and spry despite the conditions we found her in. She loves people, has a history of interacting well with children, and she is a cuddler! We'll post with more updates about her as we get to know her.
