Frankie — Frank, Franklin, our little Frank-n-Beans — went missing December 21, 2025, in Harrisonburg, VA. He’s a scruffy, 20-pound chiweenie with a white mohawk and a deep suspicion of strangers.
Frank is not what you’d call a people dog, although five years of soft couches, good snacks, and chest rubs have helped. He spent his first year feral — with his canine family, living on his wits and on his own terms — and he still feels most comfortable in the woods.
Now he’s out there again, back in his element. Across 14 sq. miles and 19 sightings, he’s proven he can survive. He even looked like he’d gained weight when spotted on camera. He’s moving. He’s smart, and he’s proving it every day.
But that doesn’t make it any easier for us. Because we know he’s also timid, gentle, sweet — and that he belongs at home, cozy and safe with his people.
We’re coordinating remotely from Alexandria — coming every weekend possible, leaning on friends, family, and volunteers to help on the ground. We’ve hired trackers, deployed drones, spread posters and flyers and word across the county.
We’ve spent $7,500 on Operation Semper Franklin so far, and we’re not giving up.
Many of you have asked how you can help. This is one way — by contributing to offset some of the costs. But if you can only do one thing, our most urgent ask is to keep an eye out. Keep watching, keep sharing, and keep praying that we will bring him home safely… and soon.
We are Finding Franklin,
—Jamie + Patrick
