Finding a Way to Hope

Hi, this is John Downey. Some of you know that we recently got an Afghan journalist and young mother to safety in Europe. We showed ourselves, and hopefully the world, that we can overcome oppressive regimes, even if it is (at the moment) one person at a time I've been asked to help again, this time a physician and mother who is also under threat from the Taliban. She is still inAfghanistan; her offense is providing medical care. She cannot risk identifying herself, but reaches out with this plea:

"I am a doctor, my life is now in danger for helping a Taliban woman and cooperating with foreigners. My home has been my prison for two years. I have a young daughter with me. I need money to be able to leave here, please help me"

The situation in Afghanistan is unlivable now. Our doctor wants only to escape the country. She had set a modest goal of $500 to accomplish this, but didn't realize the time involved in getting funds to her. She will need money to function until she can leave, and so we are raising her goal, to $900, and asking everyone to help as soon as possible.

Please know that she can be saved, that the world can change, and that you can be a hero. All it takes is you.
