Barbados faced its first hurricane in 70 years, weeks of volcanic ash storms from a nearby volcano, and, like much of the world, the harsh realities of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to extremely strict government restrictions, The Oasis has been closed for the majority of the pandemic. This last year and a half has been tough. There are no government assistance programs and we need your help.
The Oasis is a young community-focused enterprise. It's a place for all to come, play, drink, eat and enjoy each other’s company. We believe in sport, community, and wellness. Through a variety of sports and events, we provide unofficial mentorships, therapy, partnerships, and free expression for all walks of life. Everyone is welcome there and they encourage everyone to "FindTheOasis".
The Oasis is currently a 12,000 sqft, rubber surfaced, multipurpose court with an adjoining 60 ft container bar and deck space. Even though sports are critical to cope with such dire situations like we're all facing today, the current government regulations still forbid it. The Oasis closures in addition to emergency expenses due to hurricane damage and volcano ash storms have brought the management of Oasis to the financial brink.
We are raising funds to prepare for a reopening with expanded services. Our financing for facility upgrades have already been approved and your donations will go towards our initial financial injection for the project.
The Oasis is adding another multipurpose court with a roof and solar panels to generate power. The space will not only be used for soccer, other sports and events, but it will be used for informal community meetings, international sports tournaments, a variety of trainings, team-building and other social activities.
The Oasis community needs your help. The Oasis provided services for hundreds of community members pre-pandemic and hundreds more will need The Oasis upon reopening.
