Thank you for your support in the continued search effort to find Bob Walker. He is missing in a jungle in Hawaii. Bob Walker is 74 years old, a beloved father of 4, grandfather of 4, retired pastor, and Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Bob was last seen on May 13, 2020 at 3:45 pm entering the Pupukea-Paumalu Trail system in Haleiwa, Hawaii (North Shore of Oahu). A neighbor reported he was carrying 2 golf clubs. Family members believe he was looking for a nearby meadow to hit golf balls but lost his way. Bob is 5'6" tall, 140 lbs and has a full head of gray hair and a Southern accent. Bob was last seen wearing a dark blue or black collared shirt and khaki shorts. He is believed to be wearing dark gray Reebok shoes with white soles and red shoelaces (size 8.5). He was also wearing his favorite Dallas Cowboys baseball cap (white with a navy bill and blue letter "D" on the front and white star on the back) and a large college fraternity ring (Kappa Alpha, Mississippi State). He possibly has with him a black face mask, a white left-handed golf glove, reading glasses (slim fabric case with "Vietnam War Veteran" pin on it). He might still have his wallet with him.

Bob was born in Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University. He served as a minister in churches in Mississippi, Texas, and most recently in North Carolina. He moved to Hawaii in 2019 to live with his son. Bob has an outgoing personality, a friendly smile, and lots of Southern charm. He sings in a choir and has a beautiful tenor voice. His favorite song is "Elvira ." Bob loves music and plays guitar and ukulele. He is a great dancer, and he loves to make people laugh and smile. He adores his cat, Rascal. Bob has dedicated his life to serving others and volunteers for Meals on Wheels. He has passed this love of service on to his 4 children Jessica (mother of 3), Trey (lawyer), Rebecca (ER doctor), and Rob (environmental engineer). Bob was diagnosed with dementia 6 years ago, but that did not change his kind hearted nature or his zest for life. He loves to play golf, but had never tried to leave the house by himself before.

The Pupukea-Paumalu Forest Reserve is a jungle with dense vegetation, heavy rainfall, and a maze of intersecting trails that connects to thousands of acres of uninhabited mountains and forests. Search efforts in Hawaiian jungles are particularly challenging due to the rugged terrain. The sheer cliffs and slippery ravines cannot safely be explored on foot and require expert personnel, technical gear, and the use of helicopters. Initial county search efforts (including police and fire department) were vigorous and included the use of search dogs, helicopters, and skilled teams with rappelling equipment. However, according to Hawaii State protocol, their efforts were called off after just 3 days. Friends, family, and neighbors hit the trails immediately after they found out Bob was missing and have not stopped looking since then. The search continues day and night, run entirely by volunteers and donations. An army of volunteers is needed to hike the extensive trail system and search every ditch and crevice for signs of Bob. He was in good physical condition and could have easily walked 10-15 miles or more on a trail. The tropical climate of Hawaii and availability of fresh water make it possible for a person to survive in the wilderness for more than 2 weeks. There is still hope that Bob will be found and safely returned to his family and to his cherished cat, Rascal.

There has been incredible support from the local community and everyone has rallied to help the search effort in any way they can. However, as the search expands, fundraising is increasingly vital. The search will continue every day until Bob is found. Your support is greatly appreciated by everyone who knows and loves Bob. Donated funds will be used directly to cover the costs taken on by Bob's family and friends for the extended search efforts. This includes:

-Private helicopter time.

-Hydration and snacks for the 80-100 daily volunteers who have to wear long pants and sleeves in tropical heat and humidity to protect themselves from the dense and brutally spiky vegetation. The work they are doing is extremely draining and physically demanding. It is important to keep them fueled for the trail since they are doing most of the grueling ground work of finding Bob.

-Printing fliers and banners. For example, $1000 will be able to provide ten 3x5 foot banners to post on street corners and highways.

-Possible paid advertising on radio and other media. As Bob may have wandered outside the search area, public awareness becomes increasingly important as the search continues.

-Renting a portable restroom, placed near the trail head for the army of dedicated volunteers helping with the search. The trail head is in a residential neighborhood and has no public facilities that can handle muddy boots and dozens of people.

-Equipment for the search such as machetes, gardening gloves, high powered flashlights, head lamps, batteries, and first aid supplies.

-Office supplies such as tape, markers, poster boards.

-Masks, hand sanitizers, and cleaning supplies to keep the search operation compliant with COVID precautions.

Any funds remaining after Bob is found will be donated to organizations that help other families find missing loved ones.

Thank you for your generous support of the search to find Bob Walker. Our collective efforts will help to bring him home soon.
