Find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) for my dad
Hi everyone, as some of you know my dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (also known as MND/ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease) a year ago. This is the disease for which the ice bucket challenge was created.
Neurologists describe this insidious disease as the cruelest of all diseases. The average life expectancy of someone with MND is 27 months. 10% of all cases are genetic, but 90% have NO known cause (sporadic).
For those of you who know my dad, you’d know he was a social butterfly. Unfortunately, now, he’s lost all of his speech and has to rely on writing down what he wants to say. You can imagine how frustrating this would be not to able to talk. He is also wheelchair bound now, and can’t lift himself off a chair or the ground to even go to the toilet or shower himself. My brother is his full-time carer and weight carrier.
This disease reduces you to a state of paraplegia without a car accident having occurred.
Please consider donating to this charity, so that, God willing, a cure can be found to beat this horrendous disease sooner rather than later.
