I’m running the Swansea Half Marathon and raising money for two charities that mean a huge amount to me — Ty Olwen Hospice and the MND Association.

My Nan was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, a cruel and progressive illness that affects the brain and nerves, the illness is a gradual degenerative disease watching your loved ones decline. There is currently no cure, and it changes not only the life of the person diagnosed, but everyone around them. Supporting MND Association is so important to me — they fund vital research and support families facing the same reality.

I’m also doing this in memory of my close friend Kristian, who we sadly lost too early. During the most difficult time, the care he received from Ty Olwen Hospice was nothing short of incredible. They didn’t just support Kristian, they supported everyone around him — providing dignity, comfort and compassion when it mattered most.

This fundraiser is for both of them — and for every family going through something similar.
