Durante muchos años, Don Antonio Román ha dedicado su vida a la agricultura en Finca El Teatro. Él, junto con su familia, ha pasado por muchas dificultades y desafíos que, a los 80 años de edad, ninguna persona debe superar o sufrir.
Antes del huracán María en 2017, cultivaba malanga lila, ñame, guineo, plátano y café. Desde el paso del huracán, Don Antonio no siembra nada y sobrevive con el seguro social.
¿Cómo sé esto? Porque él es mi abuelo.
Como muchos sabrán, trabajo en la Cruz Roja Americana administrando dos programas de ayuda para agricultores, pero esa ayuda, debido a conflicto de intereses, no puede llegar a mi familia. Desde hace varios meses, visito la granja los fines de semana, y al menos lo ayudo con trabajo que al menos podrá poner en producción la granja ya que, a su edad, es difícil hacerlo.
Todos los días pido, y ayudo a otros ... hoy, pido por mi abuelo, mi agricultor favorito.
Estamos pidiendo:
- Arreglos para su hogar
- Maquina de arado
- Arreglo de guagua de carga
- Construcción de verja para control de robos y cerdos salvajes
- Herramientas y equipos liviano
- Trituradora de árboles
- Limpieza de árboles para la preparación de la siembra
- Alimentos para animales, fertilizantes y abonos orgánicos
Con su generosa contribución, podemos volver a producir las 15 cuerdas que tenemos en la ciudad de Las Marías, Puerto Rico.

For many years, Don Antonio Román has dedicated his life to agriculture in Finca El Teatro. He, along with his family, have gone through a lot of difficulties and challenges that at 80 years of age, no person should pass or suffer.
Before hurricane Maria in 2017, he planted malanga lila, name, banana, plantain and coffee. Since the passage of the hurricane, Don Antonio does not sow anything and survives with social security.
How do I know this? Because he is my grandfather.
As many will know, I work at the American Red Cross managing two farmer aid programs, but that help, because of conflict of interest, cannot reach my family. For several months now, I visit the farm on weekends, and at least I help him with some work that will at least, will be able to put the farm to produce since, at his age, it is difficult to do it.
Every day I ask, and I help others... today, I ask for my grandfather, my favorite farmer.
We are asking for:
- Home repairings
- Plow machine
- Fix the load bus
- Construction of fence for control of theft and wild pigs
- Tools and light equipment
- Tree crusher
- Cleaning of trees for land preparation
- Animal feed, fertilizer, and organic fertilizers
With your generous contribution, we can return to produce the 15 acres we have in the town of Las Marias, Puerto Rico.
