As most of you have seen by now, our friend Doug lost his courage battle to cancer
It’s so clear to see how much Doug meant to so many people, he fought this horrible disease so courageously and LIVED LOUD until the very end.
Lets keep the financial support going for his beautiful wife and his handsome sons!
You will be missed and forever remembered Doug buddy
UPDATE FROM DOUG & FAMILY: August 12, 2024
We wanted to thank everyone that has contributed to helping Doug, Renee and their boys as they navigate through these extremely challenging times! They are beyond grateful and certainly overcome by the outpouring of support from everyone near and far. It has helped a great deal as they navigate through Doug being off work indefinitely.
Further to this update Doug has found out through his oncology team that unfortunately his cancer has metastasized and it is not possible for his cancer to be cured. Treatments will be ongoing to extend Doug’s life for as long as possible and ensure that he is comfortable to enjoy his family to the fullest. The family is still holding out hope that a miracle will occur and a cure is found as Doug is a fighter and has risen to beat so many challenges throughout his battle.
Again thank you so much to everyone that’s helped along the way. Doug is a fighter and Renee’s love and drive to see him through this is unmatched. Here is a picture of their wedding vow renewal that took place in July on their 10
Year wedding anniversary.
Hi, with the permission of family. We are asking, friends, friends of friends and family for financial support for the Halliday family.
Doug finished radiation today, and starts chemotherapy again tomorrow, this time around Doug will be off work. Doug has all the love and support he needs from his friends and family, but we are asking if everyone could come together to help this beautiful family for financial support that is very much needed.
See below the full story:
Doug’s journey started on Christmas Day 2022. He was diagnosed on Dec. 29, 2022 with stage 3 esophageal cancer. That winter he went through 28 rounds of radiation and 6 rounds of chemo. He then had a surgery scheduled to remove his tumour but once they opened him up they realized that his tumour was adhered to his aorta. They were not able to complete the surgery. Almost immediately he traveled to Halifax for attempt two of the surgery. It was successful and we thought we were on the road to recovery when he ended up getting sepsis which lead to an infection of the fluid around his heart along with bilateral pneumonia. He was in hospital for roughly 3 months. He has been home slowly improving since he got discharged on Aug. 24 up until a few weeks ago when his most recent pet scan showed an area of concern that needed an immediate biopsy. The results came back and unfortunately his esophageal cancer had returned and spread to his lymph nodes. Unfortunately due to the spread any surgical options are off the table. He is currently doing 10 rounds of radiation and chemo to try and shrink the tumour and keeps things at bay as long as possible.
Let’s show our love and support to Doug, Renee and their two amazing boys.
