Raising Funds to Support the Mascorro-Gonzalez Family Through Joshua’s Cancer Fight

Hello, I’m Jennifer Mascorro, Joshua’s mommy, and I am trying to help raise funds for Joshua and my family.

September 3, 2024, is a day that will be ingrained in our minds forever. That is the day Joshua received his B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia diagnosis. Though doctors were hopeful of a positive outcome, they explained that it would be a long, challenging road. Joshua is autistic and non-verbal, which adds another layer of challenges.

When Joshua was diagnosed, I (Jennifer, Joshua’s mommy) was on leave as Jessica (mama) had given birth to Joshua’s baby brother, Jaxon, just 3 weeks prior. Jessica and I had to make the difficult decision for me to resign from my position as a phlebotomist, and Jessica had to return to work as a teacher as soon as possible (2 months post-partum). With this difficult decision came a loss of about 40% of our income. So now we are dealing with the stress of caring for Joshua during his treatment and all the financial aspects of losing that much income. Though many people don’t realize – because we carry on with smiles on our faces – we are struggling. We need our family, friends, and community. Any little bit can make a huge difference and allow us to focus more on Joshua’s treatment than the financial stresses we are encountering.

Joshua is now in the long-term maintenance portion of his treatment. This is a huge milestone, but his treatment will not be over until approximately December 31, 2026. Yes, there is still over a year of chemo, steroids, lumbar punctures, and bloodwork to go. For any of you that have had the privilege of meeting Joshua, you know what a superhero he really is.
