Financial support for Sarah Luce's medical bills
Donation protected
I am organizing this page to help with the medical expenses for Sarah Luce's family. Sarah's mom, Pat, and I were good friends at college, and I became Sarah's "adopted mom" while she was a student at Illinois Wesleyan. Sarah and her family are near and dear to my heart!
Sarah started having health issues the summer before her senior year. Those issues continued to worsen during her senior year. In Aug. 2020, shortly after starting her new teaching job in N.C., she was diagnosed with a large brain tumor located in her cerebellum. Even after 9 hours of surgery, the doctors were not able to remove all of the tumor. She was in ICU for over 4 weeks. The tumor is malignant and will require both radiation and chemo. Sarah came back from NC to IL to undergo intensive rehab at Marion Joy in Wheaton to regain skills and strength that were affected by the removal of the tumor. She also is currently receiving proton radiation therapy 5 days a week at a facility near by. Sarah has a very long road of recovery ahead of her, and the medical bills will continue to accumulate. In addition, both Randy and Pat have taken leaves from their jobs. They are driving an hour each way every day from their home so gas and food expenses continue to mount.
The Luce family has incredible faith in God and is trusting in His plan. May we be an encouragement and support to this wonderful family by rallying around them during this very difficult time.
