Urgent financial help is needed!
In September this year Michelle Fernandes was diagnosed with a near fatal infection (Retropharyngeal abscess) that spread to her spine (Vertebral Osteomyelitis). She underwent a very dangerous and long surgery to save her life. She has spent over a month in an intensive care unit and has had multiple admissions back in the hospital due to complications from this awful infection. The bones in her cervical spine have been destroyed and have collapsed.
The vertebrae are the armor that protects the spinal cord and at this cervical level an injured spinal cord means paralysis in the arms, trunk and legs and inability to breath on your own.
She must undergo another spinal surgery on December 4th to completely rebuild her cervical spine. This will be a very long and complicated procedure and her fourth spinal surgery.
Needless to say she has been unable to work or financially support her family for months and she has a long recovery ahead. She is in urgent need of funds right away. The funds will go to helping her pay for food, housing and other necessities for her and her son Sam. The last thing we want is for Michelle to have to worry.
If you are a friend or family member who knows Michelle, you are aware of just how generous and thoughtful she is. In all of the years that I have known her she has always put others’ needs in front of her own. Please consider helping her and Sam now.
Thank you so much for donating to her fund so that her financial burden can be eased and she can focus her energy on healing and getting her quality of life back to normal.
