Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, or are now learning, Matt and Makala were in a very bad car accident on Tuesday... A car hit them while riding their motorcycle. A vehicle went through the intersection same time as them and In an instant my motorcycle was totaled and Makala was thrown from the bike. Forturnately, after going to the hospital and having several x-rays and tests done, other than broken bones and bump with bruises. Both of them had concussions and Makala suffered brain swelling with surgery to her knee and the amputation of a toe, meaning physically therapy. Such a miracle they were only impacted that much.
However, the impact was unlike anything they ever experienced and has affected them physically, emotionally and mentally more then they anticipated it would. In fact, all the physical and emotional pain of the accident began to sink in the past few day, and for weeks they won't be able to do basic things without support. And the emotional trauma of the accidnet has continued to affect them in unpredicatable ways, with lots of flashbacks, anxiety, exhaustion.
Further more, the accident has also impacted their ability to work. They have also lost the ability to run daily errands, and for Matt to make trips to the shop that are essential to the forward movement of his business each day. This lack of production and mobility has greatly affected his business, and therefore his personal income and ability to tend to his basic survival needs such as paying for groceries, rent, and doctors visits to support their healing process.
Without being able to work to their full ability and bring in income, they struggling to find the means to recover physically, emotionally and fiscally. Family and friedns has been so generous in their support with helping bring small things needed for them. This is where they are asking for the support from all of you beautiful people! They need to just be able to get their bearings and support themselves and Matt's business in turn. My dear community of friends, they are reaching out to you for support (which is NOT easy for them to do...but it takes a village, right?!) They would be immensely grateful for ANY contribution you feel called to give or are able to give in which would be used for helping them catch up on lost income and paying bills and keeping Matt's shop going.
Your support would mean so much to them. Matt has worked tirelessly for the past 5 plus years, putting (literally) blood, sweat, tears into making his business suceed. We can't say enough about how much this support would be appreciated. It is such a vulnerable thing to ask for help in this way, and to admit that I just can't do this without a community of support. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.
