Update:

It is with a heavy heart that on March 12th, our grandfather, Lolo Bert passed away in a hospital in Manila, Philippines. He is survived by his wonderful son, Eriberto Descalso Jr. and daughter, Maria Lourdes Descalso.

Even though he is sadly not with this, we have decided to keep the fundraiser going for funeral expenses and looming hospital expenses. We will have more updates in the coming days, but we would like to thank you for your donations.

Hello friends and family!

Our GrandFather, Lolo Bert, as we like to call him, was hospitalized a week ago in critical condition. He was placed on the ventilator for pneumonia and has since started hemodialysis for renal failure; the doctor is saying he may also have sustained a heart attack. His condition has improved and he is now breathing on his own again and could be discharged from the hospital very soon!

We would love to bring him home for his 84th birthday (March 16) to spend time with his family, however, with the healthcare system in the Philippines, my grandfather was denied health insurance and the hospital will not allow him to go home unless all the hospital bills and physician fees are paid in full!

Our family is coming together to help with everything we can but it falls short compared to the rising hospital bills. We are asking if you are in a position to help us get our grandfather home. We would be so appreciative! Please keep our Lolo in your prayers.

Your help would be very meaningful to our grandfather 'Lolo Bert' and also our uncle 'Tito Jun', our grandfather's sole caretaker. While he is taking care of our grandfather, he is also taking care of his 3 college-aged children and is burdened with bills and resources they need for everyday life.
