Financial Support for Larry Gottheim
Donation protected

Larry Gottheim stands alongside friends and fellow travelers like Hollis Frampton, Maya Deren and Bruce Baillie as one of the foundational American experimental filmmakers of the 20th century. His expansive filmography, which includes masterworks such as Fog Line, Horizons and Barn Rushes, as well as recent digital works (Chants & Dances For Hand and KNOT/NOT), have been screened worldwide in various museums, biennials and film festivals in both 16mm and digital. Larry's role as professor and founder of the Cinema Department at SUNY Binghamton (then Harpur College), where he brought aboard filmmakers such as Ken Jacobs, Ernie Gehr, Dan Barnett, and Nicholas Ray as faculty, nurtured the growth of the American avant-garde for decades.
Now he needs our help.
With the global impact of the pandemic, the past few months have placed Larry under considerable financial strain, rendering his living situation precarious and his daily life untenable. To alleviate the burden we are asking for your financial support, knowing that this is a difficult time for all.
Larry does not know about our campaign, and we hope to surprise him with our $5000 target goal (or more) in full upon its completion. Should we fall short of our goal, Larry will still receive the donated funds to support himself throughout the remainder of the pandemic. Anything you can contribute will go a long way.
