On Thanksgiving Day 2019 I discovered a lump on my breast. I immediately had a biopsy done and on December 18, 2019 it was determined I had breast cancer. Surgery was scheduled for January 31, 2020 with an expected recovery time of 30 days after which I had hoped to be able to return to work. Unfortunately, things changed when the biopsy from the surgery later determined I had stage 3 breast cancer. I had to undergo an additional surgery which took place on March 12, 2020, which also happened to be my birthday, to remove all of the lymph nodes in my left arm including additional tissue in the breast. The expected recovery time of the second surgery was another 30 days before I would later start my treatments of Chemo and radiation for the next 9 months. Going back to work seemed less likely as I received more & more news.

I had some money saved for various home repairs and emergencies which I've had to use to cover the household expenses that were due. Unfortunately that money has expired and the disability I applied for back in February 2020 may not be approved until September or October. My expenses run approximately $1500 per month.

I have survived some unexpected hardships in my life which I have fought to overcome. I flew to Florida with nothing but my two children Samantha & Brandon after a difficult divorce. I've strove for a better life over 1100 miles away from home for the past 15 years. For the first 4 ½ years my family of three struggled to make what I now call home into something familiar. Unfortunately on September 22, 2009, I lost my daughter Samantha in a car accident and our small family was devastated. Since that tragic day, It's only been my son Brandon and I. I've been able to hold onto everything I've built with will power and hard work, which alone has not been easy.

This disease hasn't given me the strength I need to do much of anything other than fight it. Sadly, if I do not reach my goal by late June I will have to pack my things and leave our home. Any and all updates I receive from the Disability Department will be posted on my Facebook. Any help to keep our home until I hear from the Disability Department would be greatly appreciated.
