Medical expenses for Johnny & Kari Kempf
Don protégé
Easter Sunday, April 21 started like any normal Sunday, Johnny made breakfast on the grill for him and his wife Kari, threw some food on the smoker too for dinner.

Johnny gave Kari a riding lesson that morning too. She’s worked three jobs and saved up to finally buy her own bike to ride side by side with her husband. She was so excited! A couple friends wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather and called to invite them on a day ride. Johnny said “ok, but we can’t be gone long, I’ve got food on the smoker”.
Little did they realize, they wouldn’t be making it back to the food on the smoker today... less than two miles from their home in Quincy, Indiana, on their way to meet their friends... someone locked up the brakes of their car a few cars ahead of them. Everyone between them and that car started swerving each way to avoid an accident. Johnny managed to keep from hitting another car, but sadly they went down.
His wife Kari escaped with a busted knee, some road rash and several bumps and bruises. Johnny however was unresponsive at the scene. His heart had stopped and he wasn’t breathing. Two strangers started administering CPR and continued to do so until the paramedics arrived. They were able to get his heart going again, and had to insert a chest tube to reinflate his left lung. Johnny was lifelined to St. Vincent’s Neuro Trama ICU where he remains today, three days later. He has several broken bones, including his face, nose, multiple ribs, sternum. He has a massive head trauma and brain bleed. They’ve removed a portion of the left side of his skull to allow his brain room to swell. He’s on life support and in a medically induced coma.
His family could use your support and your prayers. Johnny took care of most of the large bills, while Kari always took care of the smaller monthly utilities and such. At this point in time, neither are working. (Understandably!). Johnny isn’t out of the woods yet and no way is Kari leaving his side to go to work. If you are able, please consider donating to help them cover the costs of Johnny’s hospital bills and the home expenses he can’t pay for at this time. Johnny is well known and very much loved by all in his community. He enjoys volunteering at the American Legion Post 281, and is ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand. Can we please return the favor? Thank you for taking the time to read this. May the good Lord above not only be with Kari and Johnny through these tragic times, but also with you and yours!
God Bless!
