Financial support for Dallin and Family
Donation protected
My buddy Dallin is one of only 7 people with Farber’s Disease, God has put it on our hearts to help this family by creating this gofundme, and by sharing knowledge of this disease. We need your help. Anita and I have some friends, Garrett and Telisa Thornton, who are in desperate need of financial assistance. Their son Dallin has been diagnosed with Farber’s Disease, which is a very rare disease affecting only 200 in the world. Dallin is six years old and has astounded doctors, becoming the longest surviving Farber’s Disease patient in the world.
Farber’s Disease is a progressive condition in which a certain chromosome, responsible for the placement of complex fatty acids (CFA’s), is not active. As a result, the body incorrectly stores these CFA’s in places they should not be present. In Dallin’s case, the CFA’s have appeared in over 15 joints throughout his body, causing arthritis pain and discomfort.
As time has passed, Dallin has suffered from increased difficulty swallowing and was beginning to aspirate fluid into his lungs. Because of this, he is now G-tube dependent and can no longer swallow or intake food or drink orally. Dallin is also wheelchair bound and cannot lift his own arms or head.
Dallin’s condition makes it extremely difficult to provide him with an education and provide adequate in home nursing. He requires extensive rounds of medication as well as eight breathing treatments daily. He also needs specialized equipment, including a shaky vest and BiPAP machine to help his lungs function. Dallin has weekly appointments with physical, occupational, and speech therapists, along with regular visits to his primary care doctor for additional shots.
The Thornton family are extremely devoted to ensuring that Dallin receives the best care possible, while also raising their two other children. Insurance is not providing them with adequate assistance for the medication and treatments that Dallin’s condition requires, putting a major financial strain on the family. We are asking for your help to alleviate some of this financial burden and help Dallin beat Farber’s Disease. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, God Bless.
