If you know me at all, you know how much I (and Max) love my dog Cato. Approximately every 10 seconds I am giving him some kind of sweet talk or sharing his cute face on social media for all to appreciate. I even got him tattooed on my arm last August.
On March 15th, during a routine visit to the vet for what we thought would just be a nail trim & booster appointment, we discovered the horrible news no one ever wants to hear: our sweet Cato has an aggressive type of bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in his front right leg. Thankfully it seems to be in the earlier stages, so he isn’t in a lot of pain- yet.
We’re currently in the midst of scheduling surgery for amputation of his leg and chemo treatment to follow, as the golden standard of treatment for this kind of cancer. It will not cure him, but we want him to be as comfortable as possible moving forward. As with any major medical procedure, the bills are already stacking up, and the future feels overwhelming. Max and I are lucky enough to be in a financially stable position at the moment, but are concerned for the future once treatment continues.
Please send all of your love, prayers, good vibes, etc etc out into the universe for Cato. He’s a tough boy who’s been through a lot but I know he’ll make it through the procedure and bounce back (sans one leg :)). I promise to give him lots of kisses for everyone. We would greatly appreciate any support for our baby angel boy if you are able to And if you just want to leave some love here too, we appreciate that just as much
