Support for Ana and Lannie: Remembering Saige
Donation protected
An unexpected medical emergency has befallen some of the best people in the world this week. Ana wrote on Facebook:
Tuesday evening I found Saige unresponsive in his room around 7pm after he had what I thought was a stomach bug. We had to call 911 who started life saving measures, but he had to be rushed to IU hospital after they got his heart started. They got him somewhat stable, and did a CT scan which showed that he had a massive brain aneurysm. They told us that there was nothing that could have told us that Saige was predisposed for this. They lifeflighted him to Riley. Once here he coded twice before we could even get here. And here we have sat. Saige is going to have a brain death test this morning. No one should be shocked to hear that Saige wanted to be an organ donor, so the wonderful people here at Riley have kept him comfortable, and alive to be able to harvest as many organs as possible for others. To say we are devastated is an understatement. We have been only surrounding ourselves with family, but today will be the day for us to officially say goodbye to my dear sweet boy. I will keep everyone posted about funeral arrangements when we know anything. Thank you everyone who did know for their outpouring of love, support, and prayers. Know we have felt them and are just putting one foot in front of the other right now.

Update: Saige was transferred to Riley Children's Hospital on Tuesday and declared brain dead on Thursday, June 15, 2023. He had made the heroic decision to be an organ donor when he obtained his driver's license, and will be donating his organs to save as many other people as possible.

This is a true tragedy. They will be facing some of the worst obstacles that parents can face in the coming hours, days and weeks. In addition to the horrible emotional pain, they will be facing daunting financial expenses. Medical bills, a helicopter ride and final expenses are just some of the things that we can help defray.
We cannot ease the pain of their loss, but we can buffer them financially. Please contribute to this GoFundMe in honor of Saige, and in support of his wonderful parents, who deserve every bit of love, caring and support they can receive in this horrible, grief-filled time.
This GoFundMe is with the awareness, permission and blessing of Ana and Lannie. All proceeds will go directly to them. Thank you so much for helping them and surrounding them with your love and prayers.
