I have kept my health situation private for awhile now. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in March 2023. I have undergone two surgeries, sixteen rounds of chemo and have 15 sessions of radiotherapy to go. It’s been a crazy and stressful 10 months.

I’m a pretty positive person and will get through this . I’ve not been able to work since September 2023 and things are financially pretty tough on Jobseeker. I resigned from my employer, EML and did not receive a termination payment due a previous salary overpayment through no fault of my own.

Centrelink have suspended my Jobseeker Payment until I obtain an official letter from EML.

I’m in the process of lodging a tpd and income protection claim which will take time.

The lack of financial support available to sufferers of breast cancer or any chronic illness leaves a lot to be desired.

Any help would be appreciated .
