ELBA, Wis. — Two people were airlifted to a Madison hospital on Friday following a two-vehicle crash in Dodge County that left five people injured.
Lt. Jerrod Fox with the Columbus Fire Department said crews were dispatched to State Trunk Highway 16 and County Road TT shortly after 4:45 for a report of a crash. The intersection is about 3 miles east of Columbus, Wisconsin. According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a 2006 Subaru and a 2021 Mitsubishi collided in the intersection.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi was taken to UW Hospital in an ambulance. All four occupants of the Subaru were injured in the crash. The driver and a 10-year-old passenger both suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to UW Hospital. The 10-year-old’s injuries are considered life-threatening.
Two other children, a 4-year-old and 5-year-old, suffered minor injuries and have since been reunited with family.
Columbus fire and police, and medical crews from Watertown, Waterloo and Beaver Dam all helped with the response.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
