Financial Security for a Single Mom with Cancer

Donation protected
Hello,

Our dear friend Rachel Nash has been diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. The best course of action is to remove the entire manubrium, the bone where the tumor is growing. The manubrium is the bone between the clavicle and ribs which is above the heart. After this surgery, the doctors will monitor her closely to determine if chemotherapy is necessary.

Anyone who knows Rachel knows she is not one to be trifled with. This stubborn woman knocks down any obstacles the world throws at her again and again. Hell, she already beat the odds surviving a brain aneurysm when she was 25 years old. Cancer will not defeat her. This single mom and special education teacher always puts those closest to her first. She cares too much for her mother, godmother, daughter, nieces, and students to leave any of them on Earth without her.

Unfortunately, insurance will not cover all of her treatment nor time in the hospital. She will also have to go on medical leave for at least three weeks. As hard as this is to believe, HISD (Houston Independent School District) has no paid medical leave.

Rachel Nash has been a dedicated teacher for over a decade. She's used her time, energy, and finances to help children in her community with every opportunity. She has routinely put the needs of others before her own and now we have an opportunity to help her.

Please consider contributing to this fund so that she can pay her medical bills as well as her general bills (groceries, rent, electricity, phone) while on medical leave without pay.  Our goal is to collect these funds by February 15, 2022.
