Financial relief for Emily Olivas

Hi, my name is Lindsey Saldana and I am reaching out on behalf of my best friend Emily Olivas. Emily is a single mom of three boys whom are her first priority and her greatest possession. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago Emily got sick and got progressively worse in a very short amount of time. Her symptoms came out of nowhere and came on very quickly. She was hospitalized and has been there for the last 2+ weeks while the doctors tried to figure out what was wrong. At first, they had trouble diagnosing her and her symptoms grew increasingly worse. They now have answers, and she has been diagnosed with Guillain Barre syndrome. Emily has lost the ability to walk on her own along with an array of issues she is facing for the next 6months to 2 years while she tries to recover and regain her capacity to stand, walk, and see fully again as well as returning normal activities of daily living. They have completed the initial treatment for this and that was a positive. However, she is very far from returning to normal. Her mother has taken a leave from work to be by her side in the hospital as Emily has not been able to be left alone. Having said this, she will be transferring to an inpatient rehab facility for the next few months to begin intensive therapy. This disease is extremely debilitating and requires a lot of medical care which will keep her from being able to generate any income to take care of herself and her kids. Along with Emily's immediate situation this has affected her parents as well as they have had to put everything on hold to be there by her side along with helping provide and take care of her kids. I would like to take the financial burden they are facing off of their plate so that they can help take care of Emily while she is in rehab and going through the recovery process along with her boys whom they are caring for at home while financially trying to maintain two households. The next few months will be crucial for her recovery so anything we can do to help lessen the burden financially will allow them to put the focus on Emily.
