An unexpected medical emergency shook our family to the core early this week when Kelly was found by her boyfriend Gary, unresponsive and not breathing. He immediately began CPR and called 911. Within a few minutes, first responders arrived. Between Gary, first responders, and the ER doctors, CPR was performed for nearly 30 minutes. After eight tries with the defibrillator, she was finally revived. Although conscious, Kelly is still intubated and in critical care with many tests to still be preformed. To stabilize her vitals, doctors conducted a therapy called therapeutic hypothermia to lower her body temperature. Once her vitals were stabilized, they began the warming process. Doing this immediately after cardiac arrest can reduce damage to the brain which can help Kelly recover. There are still so many unknowns. Our family is still waiting for CAT scans, MRI, and other test results. What we do know is that this process is not quick, easy, or low-cost. Please consider donating to help relieve Kelly and her family of medical bills and other expenses during these difficult times. Any amount is deeply appreciated. Please share this with friends and family if you cannot donate. And of course, we ask you to keep Kelly in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.
