Hi All!

I'm a Latinx, first-gen, low income queer rising senior who attends Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. After leaving for Wellesley, my birth parents and I completely ceased communication in 2017. During previous vacation-times, I would stay at another family members' home but it's become an unsafe environment to return to. I am on almost full financial aid and I provide all of my own support. After the shelter-in-place, I lost my work study job and was unemployed for about four (4) months until I got a Wellesley-sponsored internship this summer. 

I was staying with my partner and their parents in California until Wellesley released its plan for the semester.  After its release, I took out an apartment back home in Phoenix, AZ. The cost of moving has been really expensive and the savings I have from my summer internship stipend are running low. Tuition payments start next month (August) and I don’t know how I’m going to keep up with both my tuition and living expenses for the academic year. Additionally, because of COVID-19 and the high number of cases in Arizona, it’s hard to find paying jobs right now, especially without putting myself at risk. 

As a First-Gen Low Income (FGLI) student, it’s really hard for me to ask for help but seeing my bank account and the amount of bills I have to pay, I know that help/support is what I really need right now. I’m asking for $5,500 to help me with expenses so I’m not left without anywhere to go and I can concentrate on my courses + other things I plan to do during the Fall semester until I can go back to Wellesley.
