We need help. Now, and for as long as Colby is alive. Thank you for your gift. It goes to food, bills, and life enriching opportunities.
Thank you for your support of our family. The reality of providing fulltime support in NY State, at this time in the US is financially devastating. For eight years Craig and I have both focused the majority of our time, what would be our career and work life time, to caring for our children, namely our disabled daughter Colby.
Colby continues to miss at least 50 days of school per year. She continues to need help through the night, wet diapers and her body needing to be moved and positioned.
How does a person survive in the US without an income? Colby receives $600.- per month for SSI as a low-income disabled person.
We, Craig and I, for our work, receive zero. Some states do pay parents and legal guardians for their life saving care of disabled or medically fragile children. Not NY. This is a long fight and the center of my advocacy, because SO many issues are tied up in the issue of invisible labor.
