Hi, my name is Shellene and I’m raising funds for my sister and best friend Monica. Monica is a 29 year old hard working single mother. She has been fighting with  cancer now for about 2 years. Last year she fought so hard and ended up going into remission! This was the best news and she was ecstatic that she could finally put this behind her. Unfortunately however, earlier this year, the cancer came back. It’s spreading and has since progressed to stage 4. Up until this point she has maintained her multiple jobs even throughout her previous 3 rounds of treatments. Now look, I know how gofundme’s can be perceived. Another hardship tale of someone asking for help. But hey, sometimes life has a way of humbling you to this point. I’m completely humbled and will do whatever it takes to help my friend. I’ve witnessed how much of a blessing this can be to those who really need it. I thought this was a great idea and could really benefit my friend.

Things have gotten heavier for Monica recently as she has been forced to make some tough decisions. She has started a new more aggressive treatment that will last 6-12 months and will make it difficult for her to be able to provide like she’s accustomed to. The money I’m trying to raise would go towards securing her financially and provide some much needed relief throughout the treatment. Witnessing her struggle with the idea of how she will balance keeping her daughter as comfortable as possible in her own home, get bills paid, be an active mom and simultaneously focus on her health has been hard to watch. Not to mention dealing with the scary reality of living with this disease daily. But still she keeps it all together and stays solid for her daughter. That’s what mothers do but sometimes we need a break from being strong. This is why she is so deserving of this. My goal is to take the financial burden off of her back so she can peacefully focus on her health for a while. Every penny earned will go straight to her and my niece!
