Well I guess it's time to start sharing. I am unsure where to start as this is very hard for me, I almost feel shame, I have multiple people suggest I could try a Gofundme.
In the past 14 years I've had 2 Brain Tumours removed, one craniotomy as well as an awake craniotomy. Unfortunately late 2024 it has returned, spreading across both hemispheres, which makes inoperable as it will cause permanent cognitive damage if they were to do so.
On the bright side, it doesn't appear to have changed grades, the regrowth images to my neurology team appears that it is still a Stage 2 Diffuse Astrocytoma.
The plan is to sterilize it with Radiotherapy and shrink it with Chemo, hopefully after this it may open up options for surgery.
The 21st of December was my final Radiotherapy, completing 30 days of treatment, without going into detail is absolutely horrendous. I would not wish this on anyone.
End of January, I'm to start 6-12months of Chemo. I have finished up work, an amazing job opportunity was given to me just 4months before the discovery of it's return. The door will remain open for me once I'm well and ready to return to work, for this I am incredibly fortunate. I cannot be more thankful to the business owner and his wife.
We have almost 5 year old twins, this has been incredibly hard on them. I cannot thank my family and friends enough for the support.
My stunning partner, I will never be able to thank enough, Tari has her own struggles with back, wrists, knees and has recently been in constant pain. Tari pushes through and has gone above and beyond to support us, for this I will never be able to thank her enough.
We have gone through much of our savings, the constant appointments and so on, countless medications and then Christmas, it's killed us financially.
I have 12+ months signed off by my oncologist as work is out of the question. We're in the midst of organising Centrelink, which will be a severe pay cut so we have a bit of financial planning to continue.
I don't really know what to ask for but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Outside of this, if you don't feel comfortable with a donation to us, I would very much love to encourage you to please, please donate to the Cancer Council, particularly for Brain Tumours. The work they do is really outstanding.
I'm not really sure what else there is to say, after much encouragement from family to share my story, here it is.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas followed by a Happy New Year, stay safe out there everyone, love you all.
