The justice system in Nova Scotia has failed Talia Forrest and her family.
July 11, 2019, Colin Hugh Tweedie drove intoxicated, sped down a residential road, struck Talia while riding a bicycle on the opposite side of the road, and drug the bicycle 1.5km as he continued home.
Following a 10 day emotional trial and testimonies from 14 witnesses in February; Friday, March 25, 2022, Judge Mona Lynch found Colin Hugh Tweedie not guilty on the charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and leaving the scene of an accident.
The second day into February's trial, Tweedie entered a guilty plea to obstruction of justice. The obstruction charge was laid after Tweedie told police that he was not driving his vehicle the day Talia was hit. He told police girlfriend Beth Hart was driving. Sentencing for this charge is June 3, 2022.

Talia's mother Susan Arsenault is a single parent. Prior to Talia's death, Sue recently completed a Human Services diploma and was working full-time. Due to PTSD from the tragic death of her daughter, she is working on returning to work. This fundraiser is to help Sue with financial needs as she continues fighting for justice.
I have been asked how to contribute from those who do not use this form, please contact myself or another team member to donate directly to Sue.
