Our friend Mike Nims was diagnosed with bladder cancer in July 2021. The tumor was isolated inside his bladder but they found a new tumor in October 2023 that had invaded the muscle of his bladder. The treatment for this form of cancer required an extensive surgery and hospital stay and then two full months of recovery. Due to his diagnosis and treatment, Mike hasn’t been able to work a full schedule in the last two years and hasn't worked at all since December of last year as he’s waited for his body to recover.

This year started with more rounds of chemo and some health setbacks that resulted in another weeklong hospital stay, delays to chemo and severe neuropathy that has affected his leg, arms and heart and caused a tremor in both of his hands.

Mike had another surgery on March 27th, which went as well as it could've and while he’s hopeful for a great outcome and the chance to recover well, it’s possible he’ll need more chemo after surgery. This ordeal has used up all of their available savings and loan options and now the medical bills that were not covered by insurance are beginning to come in. We want to come together to help raise funds to help carry them through the next few months until hopefully Mike is able to return to some capacity of work and also help Mike get their house and property in order for Mari should they need to prepare for the worst.
