Josh Rees suffered a horrendous injury playing for our club Blackwood Stars against Bargoed in the first game of the season.
He severely dislocated his knee and needed an ambulance to take him to the nearest hospital where he had an urgent operation to straighten his leg as there was no circulation flowing to his foot. Fortunately the operation was a success otherwise he could have lost his lower leg.
The MRI scan confirmed that there had been an explosion within his knee and he now has to have complex knee surgery in the next week or so to reconstruct it and may need a donated ACL because there doesn't appear to be one left in the knee.
The surgeon has confirmed that his knee will never be the same again and the recovery period will be between 12 to 18 months.
Unfortunately Josh had no personal insurance and is likely to be off work for a considerable long period of time. He has a young family and the club is asking people to make a donation, however small even if its just £1, to help him and his young family financially through the time he will be off work.
