Jeff Vander Werts Tractor accident. May31,2020

I wanted to give a little more information for folks that may not know what happened. Jeff was working on his tractor and something happened where is rolled over him. If it hadn’t crashed into our shop doors, I would have not known he was out there injured. I was able to call 911 and he was life flighted to Mercy Neuro Trauma ICU in Des Moines. He has broken ribs, pelvis, left clavicle, left foot, and his left ear was severed almost all the way off. I am posting updates several times a day. We are unable to see him in the hospital due to covid 19 so myself and his family are upset about that. Jeff is upset too. However, we know he is in good hands. Jeff has had an accident with the tractor today. He has been life flighted to mercy in Des Moines. He is stable but will have a long road ahead. I apologize if I haven’t contacted everyone. We have a very long road ahead of us. For now, our biggest concern is keeping Jeff from getting any lung infections. He will be in the Neuro Trauma ICU for a few days. They said in the hospital for 1-2 weeks. I will continue to work at the office until he comes home and then we will go from there depending on the care he will need. I believe he is lucky to be alive and we are so thankful for everyone that has helped thus far. Anyone who has offered supports, we will be taking you up on those offers once Jeff is home. I have called the Red Cross so that Carter can hopefully come home for a week to help me out around the farm and house. Life has changed but it’s ok because Jeff is alive.
