As I sit here to try to find the right words of expression I can't help but to cry. Crying because of the thoughts, the anxiety, the constant "what if's", and the visions of the future. "Is this even real?" "This reminds me of a movie." My imagination is going nuts. My family, my daughter and my husband are here with him. All together, wondering, hoping, praying for answers, overwhelmed, and sad. Sunday my son was complaining of a pressure headache behind his eye and still complaining about his lower jaw where a recent molar was extracted. We ended up going to the emergency room because of his eye pressure and headache. They ran tests and scanned his head, the Dr. found a blood clot inside his head behind the sinus cavity. She made some calls and referred us to Balboa Naval Hospital to some specialists for his eye and his jaw. We drove here the next day and as they were scanning, poking, prodding, taking blood, scanning again, the pain was progressing and new pains in different areas were forming. The Drs were unsure of the cause but sure it was something unexplained and serious. We had questions and thoughts but we were scared. He had another MRI and it revealed that what they thought was a blood clot was actually a mass on his brain, a tumor. Friday the 13th of July, OUR little "Bubbie" was diagnosed with Stage 4 Burkitt's lymphoma, a Sporadic and Rare form of cancer. July 14th he started chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This lymphoma doubles every 24 hours and waits for nothing, and waits for noone. The pain and confusion is tremendous. Cancer can strike at any moment and it is immediate, it is prolonged, it is vicious. We are raising money to help with the financial burdens that we are about to face. Our home is 3.5 hours away from the hospital. Every penny will help us with traveling expenses, daily necessities and meals for us as we will both be here in San Diego with our son. I have to take a leave of absence from work and Damon will have to as well. In order for us to maintain an allergen free home we need to do a few renovations, to Bubbies room mostly. The donations will help offset renovation costs for tile, paint and hopefully a new AC unit and filter system we need to install. If you can find it in your heart to donate or even share to spread awareness for our family and awareness about childhood cancer, we will forever be grateful.
