Financial help after a stroke

Hi, my name is Mike Irwin, and I’m reaching out with a humbled heart.

I’m a father of three, and up until recently, I was living a very full life — working hard to provide for my family, spending time with my children, and doing everything I could to support our home.

In early 2025, I suffered a serious medical emergency — a stroke and brain bleed caused by dangerously high blood pressure. It changed everything.

I spent several months in the hospital and rehabilitation centers, fighting to recover and regain as much of my independence as possible. I’ve just been released, and while I’m incredibly grateful to be alive, I am still facing major challenges every single day.

As a result of the stroke, I now live with aphasia (a condition that affects my ability to speak and understand language) and right-side weakness, which impacts my mobility and ability to care for myself. I’ve lost the ability to work, drive, and support my family in the way I always have. This has not been easy to accept.

I’m starting this GoFundMe in the hope of receiving any help possible during this incredibly difficult time. All funds will go directly toward:

• Groceries and basic needs for my household

• Gas money to attend regular rehab and medical appointments

• Mobility aids and other necessities that support my recovery

• Household support while I focus on healing

This situation has been humbling and overwhelming. But I know that community is powerful — and if you’re in a position to help in any way, even just by sharing this, it means more than words can say.
