Hi, my name is Sarah and I’ve started this with a collection of friends in our community to help our friend Candice.
If you know Candice, you know she is one of the strongest, most selfless people out there. She’s the kind of person who shows up for anyone who needs her—no questions asked—and she never asks for anything in return. She works hard to provide for her young daughter, balancing motherhood and her job in the hospitality industry with grit, humor, and determination.
This past couple of years have been unimaginably difficult. After a long-overdue diagnosis of a tumour in her jaw bone, Candice underwent major reconstructive surgery in 2023 to remove the mass in her jaw. The procedure was extensive, requiring the use of her fibula and other parts of her leg to rebuild the left side of her jaw. Despite her strength, the recovery has been far from simple. She has faced complications, significant pain, and the emotional and physical toll that comes with such a life-altering experience.
While Candice is private about many details—as anyone would be—we want to be transparent about the ongoing challenges she is facing. Her recovery is far from over. Due to displacement in her jaw from the previous surgery, she now needs orthodontic treatment, including braces, to properly realign her jaw before she can undergo the next stage of corrective surgery. This is a crucial step in ensuring she regains proper function and continues healing safely.
Unfortunately, working in the hospitality industry means Candice does not have benefits to cover medical leave, orthodontic treatment, or the extended recovery time that comes with multiple surgeries. She has pushed through as much as she can on her own, but this next stage is where she could use some additional support.
We are asking for help to ease the financial burden of:
* Orthodontic treatment needed to realign her jaw
* Upcoming surgery extended recovery time
Candice would never ask for this herself—but she deserves support, compassion, and relief from the overwhelming weight of expenses. Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly help her continue this long and difficult journey toward recovery and healing.
Thank you for showing her the same kindness she has always shown others. Your generosity truly means more than words.
