Financial Aid for Bill Hall's Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, we are the family of Bill Hall and we appreciate you taking the time to read his story. At 44, he is a son, brother, cousin, nephew, father, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, and 15 year life partner to Kristine. Self employed and an extremely hard worker, he was a carpenter by trade for over 20 years. The last 3 years to present, running his own pressure washing business. Over his lifetime he has helped numerous family members, friends and even strangers in need using his unique skill set, stamina, kind heart and loyalty. An avid nature and animal lover, he and Kristine have been learning ways to regenerate land and soil. Recently accepted by their local county to participate in a program to utilize land they steward to protect and encourage wildlife diversity. Their life intentions and journey have always been bright and we wish them to continue that trajectory. For this reason we are seeking to share his story as Bill and Kristine have found themselves under a very large medical financial strain and we are asking for help on their behalf. Bill and Kristine are very active, fit, and have always taken a holistic approach to their health with great success; which made the unfolding events even more surprising and alarming for everyone.
On January 10th Bill was admitted to an Emergency Room in North Austin with life threatening symptoms. Presenting with a very rapid heart rate, extremely high blood pressure and in atrial fibrillation, it was discovered he was having a major heart event. Tests revealed other compounding issues for which they were not equipped to handle. Therefore he was transported by ambulance to the ER at St. David's Hospital in Georgetown, Texas. Upon arrival, more extensive testing began and he was then moved to ICU. After stabilizing him enough, the following afternoon he underwent a cardio-version procedure to shock his heart back into rhythm so that open-heart surgery could be scheduled. Due to the multiple issues with his heart and severity of his unique situation, once again medical staff had him transported that evening by ambulance, this time to St. David's Heart Hospital of Austin so that open-heart surgery could be performed there.
After being on a waiting list, Thursday, January 18th a surgeon successfully performed open-heart surgery and repaired a very large aortic aneurysm in Bill's heart. A long, technically advanced surgery that was causing Bill’s heart to regurgitate blood, become enlarged and hold fluid there and in his lungs. Thankfully, the very next day, Bill’s intubation tube was removed and he was breathing on his own, awake, alert and talking. From there, he immediately began his road to recovery. He was walking laps around the nurses station with his mother Sue at his side where she remained daily and nightly for almost the full two weeks of his hospital stay. All of the staff commented how miraculous his recovery was.
On Tuesday, January 23rd, Bill was released from the Heart Hospital of Austin. At the time of this writing in March, Bill has been approved to drive and lift no more than 20lbs. He is still under caution not to work at his traditional capacity so that he may fully recover and heal. As you can imagine, this has been an overwhelming experience for Bill, Kristine and our entire family. In addition, he underwent another cardio-version a few weeks after his release from the hospital and he is scheduled for another heart procedure in May.
The individual prayers, prayer circles, outpouring of love and good vibes from family, friends and even strangers all over the map have been received with overwhelming gratitude. The power of so many hearts coming together for the love of Bill was incredible to witness and feel. We sincerely thank every single person for contributing to his renewed chance at life. Bill and Kristine are unbelievably grateful to have his life saved by skilled, extremely caring and confident nurses, doctors, specialists and surgeons. An especially unexpected beautiful experience considering their lack of familiarity in the medical realm.
The reality of such great care, however, comes at a large financial cost. Being self employed and medically uninsured at the time this surprising heart event occurred has put them in serious financial debt. All money donated will go directly to an account in Bill’s name and will be used to pay his medical bills and debt incurred from being out of work. We understand these are financially stressful times for many. Any amount you feel called to donate is so appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please hold a positive outcome in your heart. We invite you to share this fundraiser with friends and family as well; it would mean the world to us. Please accept our deepest love and gratitude in seeing Bill as we do, a cherished human being whose life we celebrate. He and Kristine still have much they want to contribute in the world and we see their endeavors as worthwhile. Easing their financial strain will allow them to continue their journey.
