Final Visit: Connor and Grandma Ruth's Bond

My name is Connor Claire Meddaugh. I am 31 years old, and I am seeking help from the community to see my grandmother Ruth for the last time. Today is December 12th, 2024, and I received the unfortunate news that my grandmother Ruth was put on hospice. My grandmother's name is Ruth Meddaugh and she currently lives in Orlando, Florida. I got separated from my grandmother in 2006. I currently reside in Kenosha, WI, where my grandmother My grandma Ruth helped my mother watch me and my brothers while mother worked multiple jobs to support us and give my family a better life, Ruthie was a pillar in the community for mental health recovery in the late '90s to mid-2000s. My grandma Ruth managed to raise my brothers and me after the passing of her son, my father, who tragically passed away by police-assisted suicide on Father's Day in 1994. My grandma lived her life with schizophrenia and was legally blind. She now is on hospice and lives with dementia and stage four skin cancer.

I have not seen my grandmother since 2012. My grandmother was and is my inspiration and gave hope to so many people in Kenosha while she lived here.

This is time sensitive; my grandmother is running out of time, and I wish to get to her before the end of the year. I do not have a license to drive. I plan on getting there by taking the train from Chicago to Orlando.

I know it's the holidays and a financially hard time for us all. However, if you could find it in your heart to help, even just by sharing this, it would mean the world to me and my grandma.
