On Friday, May 22nd, 2020, our dear family member (My cousin sister's grandson) Rohan Devgekar from Manassas VA, unexpectedly passed away. At 29 years old, Rohan was an amazing young man, whose presence undoubtedly made the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him much better. He was a gifted student who came to the United States from Pune, Maharashtra to earn his Masters's degree at Virginia Tech. After doing so, he began to work. Earlier this year had got married to Priyanka with the intention to move back to India permanently to be closer to her and his family. But unfortunately, he passed away before he could enjoy his married or family life. Rohan is survived by his wife, Priyanka, his parents, Sanjay and Asha, and his younger brother Tejas. Due to the current crisis, it is nearly impossible to have his family come here to see their child off into his next life. We have put plans in place to send Rohan's remain back home to Pune so the family can perform his last rites there and have some closure.
To us, Rohan was an example of what a true, generous, and thoughtful person should be. He was always there to lend a hand, even if his plate was full. We created this page to continue on Rohan's legacy: one of thoughtfulness, determination to help those who he surrounded himself with. Rohan's parents have authorized us to use the donations from this page to directly pay for the cost of helping Rohan get back to his family in India, so they may perform his final rituals. The costs include the charges by the funeral home to prepare his remains as per required TSA and Indian government regulation and transportation charges for the flight. Remaining funds will be sent to his parents via bank transfer to alleviate the burden now faced by his wife and his family.
No amount is too small, and every bit will count.
