Final Farewell for Clara Curtis

Hi Everyone,

I'm William (Bill) Curtis Jr, Clara Curtis's son. As many of you know by now, she has unfortunately passed. I try to remember that my mother is now at rest, its honestly hard to wrap my head around. She's been battling dementia for years, and in recent times, it had progressed significantly. I knew the end was drawing near when she had a bad fall, fracturing both hips, this past summer. This required her to leave assisted living care and go into a skilled facility in Pinehurst. As many of you know, if you're late stage dementia and break bones like that, it very much limits what time you have left. The same happened to her mother.

Unlike dad, mom didn't have life insurance, unfortunately. As her only surviving child, I knew this responsibility was going to fall to me. I'm going to make sure that I take care of her in the end, in the way I feel she would want. Other than being the best father I can to my children, this is the last thing I can do for her. I appreciate the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for providing services for her as she wanted. She will be buried next my father and sister in New Hampshire. Many people have hit me up and asked if there's anything they can do to be of help. If anyone would like to assist me in providing for these final expenses for my mother, any amount would be appreciated. Regardless, I'll make sure she is taken care of. These final expenses however, are significantly more expensive than when my father had passed nearly 8 years ago. I was not fully expecting just how much more everything would be this time around.

I would like to thank everyone that has reached out with any condolence, or gesture during these times. It's much appreciated. I would also like to thank Liberty Hospice, Magnolia Gardens, and The Greens at Pinehurst for her care.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1468 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines, NC 28387. All are welcome to attend.
