Dear friends,
On Dec 9 2018 Alfred, amazingly strong father, husband and friend passed away, surrounded by his family at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA. The Car-T cancer trial, which Alfred bravely endured at UCSF and which offered the family a glimmer of hope was not a success. On Nov 29 he was admitted to the hospital for multiple blood transfusions, platelets and pain management in preparation for yet another treatment protocol. Upon admission it was clear that the Multiple Myeloma had attacked his lungs, causing difficulty with breathing as well as pneumonia. He fought bravely until the end.
Alfred's hospital room was filled with so much love he told the nurses to "open his door so all the love could pour out from his room into the corridors" - a true testament to the joy and love he felt for all.
Skye and the girls are devastated. Many of you have reached out to ask how to help - any donation to support them would be gratefully appreciated. The cost of the memorial, bills that have piled up and medical expenses is daunting, especially during this period of grief.
The family will be planning two celebrations in honor of Alfred, one in Northern California and the other in Southern California. We will share these dates with you as soon as we can.
Now it is time for the family to mourn, regroup and begin to move forward.
Thank you for all your love and support!
Skye, Bella and Chloe
