FILTER COFFEE'S WINDOWS & FOOD FOR OUR JOURNEY

Donation protected
On Sunday night, June 20th, activity near our business resulted in a loss of two of our large storefront windows. Repair and glass replacement totaling $3650 for the windows was not covered under our insurance policy and it's coming at a time when this additional expense following the challenges of the past year is additional strain. When we opened in January 2019, we knew our shop located in the historic Munger Building would be a place for our community and our large 1928 storefront windows were a huge part of that connection. Our windows have housed art displays and installations along with hand gilded golf leaf lettering by local artist Michael Swann. We make our windows a connection between our shop and sidewalk.

Our family owned business with our amazing and mighty team need a little help but we've also decided that if we are asking for this help, we want to return  support to an organization that supports so many in our community.

We are donating 25% of every dollar raised to FOOD FOR OUR JOURNEY. If we meet our $5000 goal, this will pay for our windows AND allow us to donate $1350 to FFOJ, but no matter what is raised they will receive 25%.

Since mid 2020, FILTER has partnered with Kelly Greene's non-profit, Food For Our Journey donating around 50 servings of soups every Tuesday to the food insecure and street neighbors in our city.

Food For Our Journey partners with area restaurants, churches and individuals who provide 400-600 meals per day. Some businesses provide the meals at a very low cost to FFOJ or are donated as we do each week. They spend on average $2500-3000 per week on food alone, not including paper goods and serving utensils. Additional expenses for gas, van upkeep, licenses, insurance, and one employee brings their total operating budget to $213,000 per year with 95 cents of every dollar spent going toward feeding/serving.

Help us Filter through this time and also give to an organization that is all about community. We opened FILTER to be a vessel for community in our beloved Five Points South Neighborhood and appreciate you, our customers who have become extended family to us and our team. May we all continue to support each other and make the journey together!

Sincerely
