Dear beloved family and friends,
I’m reaching out to you and seeking your help in making my first fictional short film, “Soléne”. This beautiful romantic film captures the warmth and sincere love of an actress who falls deeply in love with a local Stand Up Paddle (SUP) female athlete. The film’s goal is to promote diversity, equality, and self-identity.
I have thankfully won several awards for my films over the years including: The San Juan Cinema Pitirre Award, Imagnation Special Jury Award, and the MAFF Film Festival Award. While I have won and been nominated for numerous film awards for directing and producing my documentary films, “Soléne” will be my first written fictional short that I will both direct and camera-operate!
During these past few months of the Pre-Production phase, I have had the honor to work with some of the most talented individuals in my home island of St. Croix to plan and organize the next phase, Production and shooting of my film. These skilled professionals include costume designers, production mangers, location managers, camera technicians, audio technicians, make-up artists, graphic artists, stand-up paddle consultants, music composers, personal assistants, and most importantly, the hard-working actors who bring life to these characters.
Reaching towards the final weeks of my film’s Pre-Production phase could not have happened without them, as well as the generous support of Sand Castles by the Beach Hotel owners, who have been providing rehearsal space, and will soon provide lodging for our local team and off-island actors.
Additionally, contributions from the non-profit organization Liberty Place, Inc., whose mission is to support human rights by creating a safe space to promote diversity and foster positive self-identity (www.libertyplaceincstx.org) and one private individual donor has allowed for the purchasing of much needed film production equipment, actors’ wardrobe, and necessary production costs such as air travel, ground transportation, shipping, meals, and other important expenses.
All of us working on the film’s Pre-Production phase want to make it to the finish line of the Production and Post-Production phase. And to get there together, we need your help by making a contribution that can assist in covering the daily expenses of shooting, editing, and preparing the film for distribution. We are working with a shoe-string budget, so any amount you can give will be deeply appreciated and will go a long way towards helping us reach our goal.
