Hello! I'm Shinji and I'm a Filmmaker/Muscian living in Canada with my cat Clementine who has Cat AIDS (FIV). I currently work full time as a telephone fundraiser for charities like the Sick Kids Hospital and The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, so it feels a little strange making this and trying to raise funds for myself. I wrote/directed my first big short film in 2022-23 and hoped to release it before the end of 2025, but have been unable to work on the post production due to serious financial debt.

THE DEBT AND THE CAT WITH AIDS:

My roommate suddenly moved out in the middle of the lease (6 months ago) and left me alone to handle all the bills and adopt their cat Clementine. They were going to return the cat to the shelter after having them for 3 years. I thought it was wrong to return a cat to a shelter after all that time, especially when they have FIV - so I adopted Clem.

I've been looking for roommates, but a lot of people don't want to live with a cat who has FIV. I've been stuck paying for my apartment/bills all alone and I've reached the point where the power/internet is going to be cut off and then I'll be evicted.

My goal is to just be broke, work on my film, and then continue making meaningful art and hopefully helping other people with it. My Canadian-ID expired last year and I've been unable to receive any government support without a new one, but I can barely afford to eat- let alone pay for a new ID + Photo.

All donations would go directly towards paying the owed rent, power, internet, and getting my documents up to date (+supporting Clementine)! The support would also allow me to finish my film and all supporters would be featured in the credits for their support (regardless if the goal is met - the film will be finished by any means necessary!)
